Homemade Healthy Gummies

Summer is winding down and kids are gearing up to head back to school so this week we are sharing a recipe for homemade gummies that eliminate the processed sugars and food colorings that fill the products commonly found in many school lunches. These homemade gummies are packed with nutrients, minerals, and antioxidants from fruits and vegetables. They also include grass fed gelatin which can help improve gut and digestion, sleep, joints and bones, as well as hair, skin, and nails.

These gummies can be made with any cold pressed juices, fruit/vegetable purees, or coconut milk but below are a few that we’ve tested. The honey can be substituted for maple syrup for a vegan option or stevia for a more diabetic friendly option. Here are three delicious takes on these gummies to get you started.

Turmeric Gummies

  • ½ cup steamed carrots
  • ½ cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • ½ cup organic cold pressed mango juice
  • ½ cup hot water
  • ¼ cup grass fed gelatin (Found here or here)
  • 5 tablespoons ground turmeric
  • silicone molds or glass dish greased with coconut oil

Combine the carrots, juices, and turmeric in a blender until smooth.

Pour into small saucepan on stove over low heat, add the hot water, then quickly whisk the gelatin until fully dissolved into the mixture. Continue to mix over heat until smooth. Pour the liquid into the molds or glass dish. Refrigerate for an hour or until set.

Sour Strawberry Gummies

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 3/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice, strained
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • ¼ cup grass fed gelatin

Combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and honey in a blender until smooth. Pour into small saucepan on stove over low heat then quickly whisk the gelatin until fully dissolved into the mixture. Continue to mix over heat until smooth. Skim and discard any foam on top. Pour the liquid into the molds or glass dish. Refrigerate for an hour or until set. Remove from molds or cut into squares or shapes using cookie cutters and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Cherry Lime Gummies

  • ¾ cup organic tart cherry juice
  • ¼ cup fresh squeezed lime juice, strained
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 3 tbsp grass fed gelatin

Combine juice and honey in small saucepan on stove over low heat then quickly whisk the gelatin until fully dissolved into the mixture. Continue to mix over heat until smooth. Pour the liquid into the molds or glass dish. Refrigerate for an hour or until set. Remove from molds or cut into squares or shapes using cookie cutters and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
